Operation Martlet German Forces

The German forces are from the 12th SS. The infantry sections are quite depleted so each platoon is reinforced with a Panzer IV to compensate. 

The Germans have two platoons. The first platoon will defend Fontenay as log as it is able. As soon as the Germans abandon Fontenay (tables 1-3) a new, identical, platoon takes over (tables 4-6).

What nasty surprises could Jerry have in store for us this time.... Only time will tell. This is the second battle in our  Operation Martlet campaign . The British failed at the first attempt .  Once again the mission is Probe with the British as attacker. The British win if they can exit a team of the German board edge. The special rules, including the morning mist, are still in effect as described in the previous post. The British plan The plan is still to take a cautions approach, perhaps even more cautious this time. The objective is not to win necessarily, but take few losses and maybe cause some losses to the Germans or even advance a JOP. Orders are to withdraw if things start looking like they can go bad. Don’t lose men or JOPs and try to get the men’s opinion to improve by not taking casualties. Final attempt at St Nicholas, June 27th, 04:00

Having again taken the German Hauptkampflinie at Fontenay, the British strike (again) at St Nicholas farm. Will they be successful this time?  The view from the British lines... ... and from the German lines. This is the 11th and last battle in our  Operation Martlet campaign . The British have received replacements and are more or less att full strength. The Germans are just a few men short. If the British are successful it will result in a Minor Victory for the Germans in this campaign, otherwise it will be a Major Victory. This will have effect on the upcoming Scottish Corridor campaign, so how this battle goes has an effect on the German advantage in that campaign. After some inactivity it’s time to kick off another campaign - this time Bloody Bucket!   Detailed battle reports are a bit too much effort so this is going to be more of an online campaign diary/notebook… House Rules As usual we re making some modifications to the rules to suit our preferences. Modifications to the Bloody Bucket campaign rules German platoons We have rolled up all the platoons in advance and just randomise which one appears in Area A at the start of each turn from 2 onwards. Platoon 1 the starting platoon on turn 1. Modifications to the Chain of Command rules 4.3.1 Deploying from Jump-Off Points Vehicles that are forced to deploy off road (no road or road blocked) need to roll +4 to deploy. 9.2 Hand grenades Hand grenades against trenches.  If the total rolled is greater than the range in inches, the target unit takes 2 hits as if in Light Cover.
